Since 2016, Doc’s Kingdom organises Dear Doc, a fellowship programme aimed at emerging film professionals. The Dear Doc programme reinforces the accessibility as well as the educational and collective dimensions of the seminar. With its variations over the years, from 2023 on, Dear Doc focuses on critical thought to stimulate a dialogue between the Doc’s Kingdom Archive and the artistic programme, as well as encouraging the collaborative production of written and audio materials.
DEAR DOC FELLOWSHIPS: for emerging film professionals (critics, programmers, scholars, filmmakers, producers, distributors), from Portugal or living in Portugal.
DEAR DOC NEW FELLOWSHIP FOR PROGRAMMERS: for film programmers or curators from any country.

Dear Doc, Robert Kramer’s short-film, is a film made from the editing room, in which the director addresses his companion on the road, at the same time as the character and actor who also stars in his film Doc’s Kingdom. Kramer looks back and examines the work that has been done: what have we achieved, where have we failed, what relationships have been built in the process? How can we look to the future and what can we expect from it? Could things have been different? It’s a reflection that always places individuals in relation to the current state of the world and which inspires the Program’s methodological process.
