Elena Duque: Doc’s Kingdom 2023 Programmer

Doc’s Kingdom is pleased to announce Elena Duque as programmer of the seminar in the 2023 edition.

“Make films speak to make people speak” is the starting point for Elena Duque, who proposes a program of films that “in an imaginative and particular way address urgent issues by activating thoughts and feelings of those who watch them.”

Spanish-Venezuelan Elena Duque is a programmer, filmmaker, writer and teacher. She currently programmes and directs the editorial department of (S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico in A Coruña, she teaches at the Camilo José Cela University in Madrid. She programmed at the Seville European Film Festival and the La Invitación al viaje section at the Oviedo SACO Contemporary Audiovisual Week. She has moderated Q&As at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and curated at places such as Xcèntric at the CCCB in Barcelona and Los Angeles Film Forum.

Catarina Mourão, Graça Castanheira, Janaína Oliveira and Marcia Mansur took part in the 2023 selection committee.

This year’s seminar will take place in the Odemira from November 30 to December 5. Registration for participants will open in the coming weeks. Find more information on the website (docskingdom.org) and on social media.
